DESIGN EVENT - MADE LONDON

In the next couple of months London will host most of its highest quality contemporary craft and design fairs.

Last week Made London run for 5 days in Canary Wharf showcasing about 100 exhibitors.
What is interesting is that during this event the makers themselves meet the public to discuss inspirations, design processes and future projects, enabling maker/consumer relationships.

The next interesting ones are the London Craft Week (9-13 May) and the Clerckenwell Design Week (22-24 May). www.londoncraftweek.com | www.clerkenwelldesignweek.com

Please see here below what I found interesting at Made London:

LONDON ART FAIR GUIDE 2018

Art fairs: if you ask me, there is no better way I would like to spend my time. Yeah yeah, art exhibitions too. But at an art fair... all you can see, you can buy! Ain't the definition of paradise? It would if I could afford all that I like!

If you love snooping around other people's homes, this is the type of experience you'll have, and you will be able to buy anything you see for a 15% discount on the original price.

DESIGN EVENT - MILAN FUORISALONE 2016

The question is legitimate: What is Fuorisalone?

Milano "Official" Furniture Fair (Salone del Mobile) takes place every year in April, it is staged in the halls of Rho Fiera and attracts thousands of visitors, designers and professionals from all around the world.

Early in the 1980s, to get advantage of this extreme visibility numerous independent companies and young designers spontaneously started to organize showings of their products around Milan.

Today Fuorisalone is the set of thousands of free admission events distributed in different areas of Milan. Each exhibition is independent and is not sponsored by any central organisation or institution. Exhibitors choose venues that can vary from old warehouses to bars and garages.

Have a look at the experimental, conceptual and refreshing desing objects that we saw there and enjoy the creative and exciting atmosphere of Milan Fuorisalone.

DESIGN EVENT: MILAN FURNITURE FAIR/SALONE DEL MOBILE 2016 [03]

Here some more pics from the stands of well established brands. Cassina has proposed tangerine red as breaking colour and the use of materials like wood, natural stone and marble for horizontal surfaces is confirmed as major trend.

Euromobil has been a nice surprise, we loved pretty much all their series.

A special mention goes to Arper design: I fell in love with their Leaf Chair when I was just out of university and working as assistant architect. I find their design of an everlasting simple elegance, they are capable of playing with well conceived unusual proportions.

Enjoy this last photo gallery from Salone del Mobile 2016.

DESIGN EVENT: MILAN FURNITURE FAIR/SALONE DEL MOBILE 2016 [02]

Here more inspiring pics from Salone del Mobile 2016.

Marble is still the protagonist when we are talking about all sort of tables, from large dining tables to shaped side tables, but white and black carrara is leaving room to infinite shades of beige and brown.

Woven leather is taking over on ottomans, bed headboards and footstools while coloured velvet made its presence felt over strutured sofas. Enjoy our Salone!
